Adam Hasner became Florida Atlantic University’s eighth president on March 10, 2025. He is a lifelong public servant and advocate for education, economic development and innovation, with more than 30 years of executive leadership experience.
Raised in Palm Beach County, President Hasner has long supported his “hometown university.” He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010, including two terms as House Majority Leader. During his tenure, he championed a number of projects that helped make Florida Atlantic the research and academic powerhouse it is today. This includes leading a multi-year effort to secure funding to establish the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, the ocean energy initiative, and the Engineering East building on the Boca Raton campus.
President Hasner continues his valuable work by overseeing the university’s six campuses, from Fort Lauderdale to Fort Pierce, which are fueling discovery and creating new avenues for regional and economic growth in areas such as ocean science and engineering, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and human health. As one of only 21 institutions in the nation to earn both Carnegie R1 top-tier research status and the “Opportunity University” designation for access and post-graduation earnings, Florida Atlantic is advancing discovery and innovation, while prioritizing student success, to ensure that all Owls thrive.
President Hasner earned a juris doctor from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland. He is married to First Lady Jillian Hasner.
Mrs. Hasner built a distinguished career in government and public policy, working for some of the nation’s most prominent Governors, U.S. Senators, U.S. Presidents, and business leaders. She most recently served as President and CEO of Take Stock in Children, Florida’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to helping more than 15,000 low-income and at-risk students annually, from 6th grade through postsecondary, break the cycle of poverty through mentorship, college readiness, and scholarships.
Why Cabaret for a Cause?
“Since becoming President of Florida Atlantic University, the First Lady and I have thoroughly enjoyed attending numerous arts programs, from the various theater productions to ballet, jazz bands, opera, and symphonic performances. Not only do we leave with a pep in our step, but we also hope that our attendance draws attention to the inspiring and diverse modes of talent and achievement through the arts at Florida Atlantic University.
“Jillian and I thought that being part of the Cabaret for a Cause would be a great way to show our support for the arts programs here at FAU, engage the community, work with our students and faculty, and have some fun!”
– Florida Atlantic University President Adam Hasner
