The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine has selected the following initiatives as priority funds for Giving Day 2025. Click "Give Now" to see more areas where you can support this unit.
Dean’s Excellence Fund: The Dean’s Fund for Excellence directs funds to areas of highest need to respond to emerging opportunities, including supporting innovative program development, faculty recruitment, community engagement activities and more. This fund allows the college to reach its full potential as a national leader in education and biomedical research.
Research Day Fund: The annual Medical Student Research and Scholarship Day is an opportunity for the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine community to learn about the research and scholarly projects conducted by medical students. Research Day activities include a poster presentation competition and oral presentation competition. Faculty reviewers select medical students to present oral presentations from clinical research, basic science lab research and clinical vignette categories.
Medical Student Scholarship Award Fund: With the growth of our South Florida community, our need for healthcare professionals continues to increase. We welcomed 80 outstanding students as our incoming Class of 2029, the 15th cohort of FAU trained physicians-in-training. However, 80-85% of talented students require financial assistance. The average cost of a medical education is now as high as $400,000 for out-of-state students. Scholarship funds allow us to ease that burden and help our students to graduate with less debt.
COM Graduate Medical Education Fund: The mission of Graduate Medical Education at Florida Atlantic is to train the next generation of physicians to deliver compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care. Through an array of accredited residency and fellowship programs, we cultivate clinical excellence, professionalism, leadership, scholarly inquiry, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Project Grow: Project Grow is a community-driven endeavor dedicated to combating food insecurity in Boca Raton. Donations contribute to the development of a community garden, encompassing raised beds and an array of fruit trees, and support our educational programs at the Caridad Center and local schools.
